B2

B2 and B2+ English Development and Exam Preparation

Level: B2
Lesson length: 90 minutes
Format: Online
Programme: Full academic year, October 2026 – June 2027
Frequency: Twice a week

The B2 course is designed for learners who want to develop their English at B2 level and prepare for a recognised language examination at this level.

The programme provides balanced development across all key areas of English: reading, listening, speaking and writing, as well as grammar and vocabulary. Learners work on extending their range and improving accuracy while becoming more confident and independent in using English for communication.

At Cracow International School, English is used every day as a language of learning and communication. This experience is reflected in our approach to B2: exam preparation is combined with broader language development, enabling learners to use English independently in conversation, work with texts, develop arguments, express their ideas and communicate effectively in both spoken and written English.

First semester – developing B2 English

During the first semester, the main focus is on systematically developing the language skills required at B2 level. Learners expand their vocabulary, strengthen their grammatical knowledge and work towards greater confidence and independence in both spoken and written English. At the same time, they develop their ability to understand increasingly complex written and spoken texts.

Reading – working with more complex texts, understanding main ideas and specific information, drawing conclusions, and identifying the writer’s opinions and intentions.

Listening – understanding longer stretches of speech and conversation, identifying key information and relevant detail, and interpreting meaning in context.

Speaking – developing fluency and confidence, sustaining conversations, producing longer and more structured responses, building arguments, and expressing and supporting opinions.

Writing – producing coherent, logically organised texts, developing arguments, and adapting language and style to different text types and purposes.

Grammar & Vocabulary – extending the range of vocabulary and grammatical structures and developing greater accuracy and flexibility in their use across spoken and written English.

Second semester – B2+ and increased exam preparation

During the second semester, learners continue to consolidate their B2 skills while gradually working with more demanding material at B2+ level.

At this stage, exam preparation becomes more intensive. Learners become familiar with the exam structure, task types and assessment criteria and work systematically with exam-style tasks, developing effective strategies for the different components of the examination.

The programme also focuses on time management, planning responses and analysing errors. Learners develop a clearer understanding of what individual tasks require and learn how to apply their language skills effectively within the exam format.

Exam preparation remains part of a broader language-development programme. The aim is not simply to become familiar with the exam format and task techniques, but above all to develop a strong command of English and the ability to use it independently at B2 level.

Programme objectives

The course aims to develop secure B2-level language skills, gradually introduce elements of B2+, and prepare learners for the requirements of an appropriate recognised language examination.

At the same time, learners develop greater confidence and independence in using English – in conversation, when working with texts, developing arguments, expressing and supporting their views, and producing written work.

For learners ready to progress further, the next stage of the Language & Exam Centre pathway is C1.
