From the Classroom to Global Debates: CIS Students at Model United Nations Conferences

What happens when students step beyond the classroom and into the role of international delegates? They learn to listen carefully, argue thoughtfully, negotiate with confidence, and look at global challenges from more than one perspective.

This year, our Cracow International School High School students had the opportunity to experience exactly that through their participation in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in Poland.

MUN gives students a unique opportunity to step into the roles of representatives of different countries and engage with complex international issues. Through formal debates, negotiations, and collaborative problem-solving, students develop skills that go far beyond traditional academic learning.

Representing CIS in Warsaw and Wrocław

The first major MUN experience of the year took place in February, when our students participated in IESMUN 2026 in Warsaw.

During the conference, they engaged in discussions on global issues, negotiated with other delegates, and gained first-hand experience of what it means to communicate and collaborate in an international-style diplomatic environment.

In March, the MUN journey continued in Wrocław with the second edition of IPSMUN. Once again, our students joined young delegates from other schools to discuss some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

For our students, these conferences were opportunities not only to demonstrate their knowledge, but also to test their ability to think critically, respond to different arguments, and work towards solutions together.

Preparing students for a global future

At Cracow International School, we believe that education should prepare students not only for their next exam, but also for the opportunities and challenges they will encounter beyond school.

Participation in MUN supports this approach by combining academic knowledge with practical skills. Students learn to communicate ideas clearly, negotiate respectfully, analyse complex situations, and consider problems from different perspectives.

Most importantly, they experience what it means to be part of a diverse community where meaningful progress depends on dialogue and collaboration.

From Warsaw to Wrocław, our students are discovering that their voices can contribute to important conversations.

And this is exactly the kind of confidence we want them to take with them into the future.
