Beyond Borders: International Experiences at Cracow International School
What does it really mean to be an international school?
At Cracow International School, we believe it means much more than learning in English. It means learning with people from different cultures, exchanging ideas, discovering new perspectives, and understanding the world through direct experience.
This year, international mobility and collaboration became an important part of our school community. Our students travelled to Lisbon, Zaragoza, and Sardinia, where they explored new places, experienced different cultures, built international friendships, and developed a deeper understanding of life beyond their everyday environment.
At the same time, our campus welcomed students and educators from the Netherlands, Denmark, and Hong Kong, creating opportunities for cultural exchange right here in Kraków. These visits showed that international education does not always require travelling far. Sometimes, the world comes to us.
Learning beyond the classroom
One of this year’s international mobility experiences took our students to Lisbon, Portugal, where they began an exciting collaboration with Prime School International.
During their stay, students explored some of Lisbon’s most iconic landmarks, including the Águas Livres Aqueduct, St. George’s Castle, and the Jerónimos Monastery. They also had the opportunity to enjoy the Atlantic coastline and experience the city beyond the typical classroom perspective.
However, the most valuable part of the trip was not simply seeing new places. Students experienced everyday life in an international environment, communicated with people from different backgrounds, and had to adapt to new situations. Each of these experiences helped them become more independent, confident, and open to perspectives different from their own.

International connections, close to home
International education is also about creating opportunities for meaningful collaboration between schools and educators.
On 11–12 June, Cracow International School welcomed the leadership team and trainers from Hamelin College for two days of professional learning and collaboration.
The visit was part of a long-standing partnership between our schools, built on shared values, mutual trust, and a commitment to educational development. Through exchanging ideas, discussing teaching practices, and learning from one another, educators had the opportunity to strengthen their professional knowledge while developing an even stronger international network.
For our school community, partnerships such as this are an important part of continuous improvement. When educators share experiences and perspectives, students ultimately benefit too.

Preparing students for a connected world
Every international journey brings something different. A new place can challenge assumptions. A conversation can change a perspective. Working with someone from another culture can teach lessons that cannot be found in a textbook.
At Cracow International School, we see these experiences as an important part of preparing young people for the world they will enter beyond school.
International education is about developing curiosity, confidence, communication skills, empathy, and an openness to different ways of thinking. It is about helping students understand that there is more than one perspective, more than one way of approaching a problem, and more than one story to discover.
Ultimately, being an international school is not simply about crossing borders. It is about opening minds.
Every journey creates a new perspective. Every encounter can inspire growth. And every international connection brings our school community a little closer to the wider world.
At Cracow International School, we are proud to create opportunities that allow our students and educators to learn, connect, and grow beyond borders.
